IGS Premier Sponsor of Ride 2 Recovery's Memorial Weekend Honor Ride in Central Ohio
Dublin, OH, May 25, 2016 – IGS, parent company of Dublin, Ohio IGS Energy, a residential and commercial energy supplier, recently announced their premier sponsorship of this year’s Honor Ride Ohio on May 28 in New Albany. The event is designed to raise funds and create awareness for Project HERO, a veteran’s rehabilitation and recovery program offered through Ride 2 Recovery.
The bike ride, which is self-paced and non-competitive is open to the public, and features routes ranging from 12, to 35, to 65 miles. Riders of all ages and levels will meet at the Philip Heit Center for Healthy New Albany at 150 W. Main Street. There is no cost to veterans to use this program, which has proven results enhancing both mental and physical health and wellness of our healing heroes.
“Almost anyone can ride a bike,” said Todd Setter, SVP, Events with Ride 2 Recovery. “These rides are fun and non-competitive. They bring people from all communities together to make a difference. They not only raise funds, but they raise awareness for our veterans recovering from combat related injuries.”
Jen Bowden, IGS’ director of community investment said, “Cycling has become a big part of the culture here at IGS. The fact that we can support an event that marries cycling and healing for wounded veterans makes so much sense. We’re really humbled and proud to serve those who have served our nation.”
The sponsorship is being funded through IGS’ community investment program, which was launched in 2015 to formalize the company’s ongoing commitment to make a positive impact on the world. Employees can take advantage of a variety of programs, such as volunteer time off, matching gifts, a dollars for doers program and workplace giving opportunities. Additionally, an organization-wide goal has been established to reach 10,000 volunteer hours and $1 million donated through the IGS Foundation.
