IGS Donates $10,000 to Central Ohio Chapter of the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America
IGS, parent company of Dublin, Ohio energy supplier IGS Energy, announced that it will present a $10,000 donation to the Central Ohio Chapter of the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA) on Oct. 26 at the company's headquarters.
As part of the formal launch of the company’s community investment program, IGS Impact, in Sept. 2015, employees were invited to nominate non-profits that were making an impact. The company’s executive team then selected one nomination with the company making a $10,000 donation to that non-profit organization. More than 70 nominations were received. Additionally, as part of the program’s kick-off, each of the company’s 16 field offices was given $1,000 to donate to the organization of their choice in their respective communities.
For the $10,000 donation, two nominations were submitted on behalf of the CCFA, one of which was an employee who has personally battled Crohn’s disease for 19 years. She has undergone 22 surgeries (20 of these since 2006) and receives IV treatment every six weeks, as her condition is unresponsive to oral medication. This employee further explained that she regularly reports to work with severe stomach pain and other significant digestive symptoms.
Jen Bowden, director of community investment said, “IGS Impact is an internal initiative that’s the brainchild of our board, executive team, and employees. Giving back to the communities where we live and work has always been an extension of our culture. This program simply gives us a vehicle to formalize donations of our time, talent, and dollars to strategically align with our core competencies.”
