IGS Energy CNG Services Opened CNG Station in Bridgeport, West Virginia

Bridgeport, W.Va-- IGS Energy CNG Services officially opened its first Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) fueling station today, located at On the Run Exxon inside Charles Pointe in Bridgeport, West Virginia. The station will service the growing number of West Virginia businesses and citizens who are converting to natural gas vehicles (NGVs) as a way to save money and use a clean, West Virginia fuel.

Governor Earl Ray Tomblin was on hand for the grand opening and noted, “With the opening of this station, West Virginia once again is taking a bold step and leading the way toward national energy independence. Not only are we utilizing a cleaner burning fuel, but we are putting to use one that is produced right in our own state by hard-working West Virginians.”

As an alternative transportation fuel, CNG emits up to 30 percent less carbon dioxide, up to 75 percent less carbon monoxide and up to 95 percent less particulate matter than gasoline or diesel. In addition to being a domestically-produced fuel, there is currently more than 100 years of natural gas supply in the United States alone.

“We are proud to provide the businesses and consumers of West Virginia with CNG as an alternative transportation fuel,” said Scott White, president of IGS. “This station will enable drivers to refuel in about the same time it would take at a conventional fueling station at a substantially lower cost than gasoline or diesel.”

Partner companies including Antero Resources, Chesapeake Energy and EQT Corporation have already committed to fuel vehicles on the Corridor.

Opening West Virginia’s first public CNG fueling station demonstrates the commitment we and our partners have to support the general public’s desire for multiple fueling options, which is the way of the future,” said Al Schopp, Chief Administrative Officer and Regional Vice President Appalachia, Antero Resources.

“The interest in NGVs is growing rapidly and the development of fueling infrastructure to
accommodate this growth is required,” said Linda Robertson, of EQT Corporation. “Building CNG stations along the Route 79 corridor will contribute to making natural gas a preferred fuel choice in the West Virginia and Pennsylvania areas. Our investment in CNG infrastructure along with the conversion of our own fleet to this cleaner domestic fuel source is one more way EQT Corporation is finding environmentally responsible solutions to help meet our nation’s energy needs.”

In addition to these private fleets, the West Virginia Department of Highways (DOH) has also committed to fuel state CNG-powered vehicles at Corridor stations. This station is the first of three planned fueling stations as part of an IGS CNG Services Fueling Corridor along I-79 with two additional stations scheduled for completion later this fall.
