Dublin, OH, April 14, 2016 – IGS Solar announced that Lexington, MA-based Cotting School’s solar energy system is now in operation and producing power for the school. More than 1350 panels have been installed at the campus.
Cotting School is one of America’s premier schools for students with complex disabilities. With a continued commitment to using their resources efficiently, the school contracted with IGS Solar, a turn-key commercial and residential solar provider, to help control their facility’s long-term energy costs. IGS Solar financed, owns, and operates the system (364 kW total size), which is designed to meet 62% of Cotting School’s annual power needs. Solect Energy was responsible for installation and will manage ongoing maintenance of the system.
David Manzo, president of Cotting School said, “This agreement with IGS Solar allows us to invest the money saved on energy costs into what matters most – our students and their education.”
Cotting School was founded in 1893 by orthopedic surgeons at Boston’s Children’s Hospital, Dr. Edward H. Bradford and Dr. Augustus Thorndike. They started the school to provide students with physical disabilities a comprehensive educational experience. Today, the school serves 120 students daily, ages 3 to 22.
Patrick Smith, vice president of IGS Solar stated, “We are excited about the relationship we’ve formed with the Cotting School, and look forward to being a long-standing sustainability partner well into the future.” Cotting School joins several other private K-12 facilities located throughout the Northeast that have recently signed on to receive capital-free solar energy solutions from IGS Solar.
