IGS, parent company of Dublin, Ohio energy supplier IGS Energy, announced that it has pledged a $50,000 donation to Star House, Central Ohio’s only drop-in center for homeless youth.
Dublin, OH, March 1, 2016 – IGS, parent company of Dublin, Ohio energy supplier IGS Energy, announced that it has pledged a $50,000 donation to Star House, Central Ohio’s only drop-in center for homeless youth.
Star House, which is affiliated with The Ohio State University, was founded in 2006 to provide solutions that help serve the unique needs of homeless young people. In 2014, nearly 730 youth visited the 24/7 center. Jen Bowden, IGS’ director of community investment said, “When employees brought this opportunity forward, we were eager to get involved as this organization serves an otherwise unmet need in Central Ohio. Star House has an innovative approach that leads to long-term stability and success for a really vulnerable population.”
IGS Impact, IGS’ community investment program’s mission is to create positive social change through philanthropy, volunteerism, and partnerships in the areas of: energy sustainability, social enterprise and entrepreneurship, and causes that matter to our employees, often in the human services category.
The donation will take place at Star House on March 10, 2016, as part of IGS’ first-ever All-Employee Day of Service. Ten employees will also be volunteering at Star House, cleaning, organizing and building shelving in their storage room, allowing Star House to accept and organize donations from the community more efficiently. Companywide, more than 650 IGS employees throughout six states will be volunteering at over 35 organizations during the all-employee Impact Day of Service.
The formal check presentation is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. March 10 at Star House, located at 1220 Corrugated Way, Columbus, OH 43201.
