IGS CNG Services Opens CNG Fueling Station in Dayton, Ohio
IGS CNG Services and the City of Dayton announced the opening of their compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling station in Dayton, Ohio.
Dublin, OH – IGS CNG Services and the City of Dayton announced the opening of their compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling station in Dayton, Ohio. It is located at the City of Dayton’s fueling station at the Department of Public Works – 1830 East Monument Avenue, Dayton, 45402 – at their existing fueling station on the City’s property. The station will service a growing number of Ohio businesses and citizens who are converting to natural gas vehicles (NGVs) as a way to save money and use a clean, Ohio fuel.
The Dayton location is the ninth in the IGS CNG Services infrastructure of stations that service the public. Of the nine stations, IGS CNG Services has one currently under construction in Obetz, Ohio along with four active stations in Ohio and three in W.VA. The Ohio CNG stations are located in Dublin (owned by the City of Dublin), Findlay, Orrville, and Girard. The West Virginia CNG stations are located in Charleston, Bridgeport, and Jane Lew.
At the station, there are two CNG dispensers with four hoses, including two high flow and two ‘fleet’ style. These dispensers will allow users to fuel their CNG vehicle in the same amount of time it would take to refuel traditional gasoline or diesel vehicles.
“We’re pleased to offer CNG to the public at such a highly accessible location in Dayton. This alternative transportation fuel provides a cost-effective and domestic fueling option to fleets traveling the I-75 corridor. This new station supports IGS CNG Services’ goal of ensuring that customers can easily find a location to fuel with compressed natural gas, while also building out a CNG infrastructure in the Midwest,” said Scott White, president and CEO of IGS Energy, sister company of IGS CNG Services.
“The City of Dayton is committed to providing the highest quality of services to its citizens while pursuing technology that helps our community to become more green and sustainable,” said Stanley Earley, Deputy City Manager.
Overall, CNG is a cleaner burning alternative fuel to traditional fuels, emitting up to 30 percent less carbon dioxide, up to 75 percent less carbon monoxide and up to 95 percent less particulate matter than gasoline or diesel. The fuel also costs substantially less than the price of gasoline, is approximately 30 to 40 percent below current diesel prices, and is produced domestically in states including Ohio. Currently, there is more than a 100-year natural gas supply in the United States alone.
This station marks the continuation of the infrastructure necessary to support Ohio’s conversion to natural gas fueled vehicles. It will support light-, medium- and heavy-duty CNG fueled vehicles. Commercial CNG vehicles can range from light-duty trucks and sedans to medium-duty trucks (such as delivery vans and postal vehicles), to heavy-duty vehicles (such as tractor trailers).
