IGS is pleased to announce that Brandon Childers, chief information officer, recently received the Patriot Award from the Employer Support of The Guard and Reserve (ESGR) division of the Department of Defense.
Dublin, OH, October 17, 2016 – IGS is pleased to announce that Brandon Childers, chief information officer, recently received the Patriot Award from the Employer Support of The Guard and Reserve (ESGR) division of the Department of Defense. Childers was nominated by Army National Guard Maj. Ryan Mathews, a quality assurance analyst in IGS’ IT department, for his flexibility in accommodating Mathews’ several deployments since he first joined the company nearly five years ago.
Maj. Mathews has been with the Guard for 16 years, and commended Childers for being supportive and helping to make his transitions back to work seamless. Since joining IGS, he has had two, year-long deployments, and just recently returned from a six-month assignment. “It definitely provides peace of mind, having that assurance that you can pick up where you left off when returning to the office,” Maj. Mathews explained. “This award is really a way of saying ‘thank you’ for supporting me and making the transitions easier.”
The Patriot Award gives employees serving in the National Guard and Reserve an opportunity to nominate their supervisors for being flexible before and after deployment. This can include granting leaves of absence and providing time off before and after deployment.
Childers said, “This award is representative of everything IGS is doing to make an impact, from hiring the best to giving back to our communities. We acknowledge and respect the significant commitments made by employees like Ryan, and are rewarded with their loyalty and strong work ethic.”
Maj. Mathews was the first graduate and hire from the Veteran Workforce Development Class offered by Halycon Solutions, an IT consulting firm based in Dublin. Through the program, Halcyon provides on-the-job classroom-based IT training to veterans and partners with local corporations to match them together for IT employment. He is one of three IGS employees that completed the program.
